At some point in every pony artist's life, they must do at least one tribute piece to the Story of the Blanks.

Applebloom isn't the sort of pony to let sleeping dogs lie. She'll do it one day.

Have a piece of narrative.

A hoof suddenly erupted from the ground in front of her.

Biting back a scream, she quickly retreated several dozen steps, her eyes wide and panicked as the hoof pawed at the air, the dirt surrounding it beginning to crumble, a body trying to work itself free.

And then came the voice. A familiar one, that made her heart both sing and ache in sorrow at the same time.

"You... you came back" it groaned.

Slowly, the mass lifted itself from the dirt, and heaved itself onto all four hooves. Standing up straight, it revealed its partially-decayed form to the young filly, hide tinted maroon with age, the remnants of its mane and tail in tatters... and yet, its face was a picture of sadness, even when set with a pair of glowing, red, haunted eyes.

"M... M-Mitta?" Applebloom whispered, barely believing her luck. The one pony she most wanted to see...

"You came back..." the zompony repeated, before her eyes screwed in confusion, her voice taking an admonishing tone. "That was a foalish thing to do. Why return? Step foot into this town, and you know they will be upon you once more. Why put yourself in danger once again... why not leave us to our fate?"

The yellow pony's tears began to run anew as she viewed the pony before her. The one creature in this cursed town who, despite being a monster herself, had saved her life. "I..." she began. "I-I... Mitta... I just..."

Suddenly, she galloped forward again. The undead equine reeled in shock as Applebloom flung herself into her, wrapping her hooves around her neck. Her eyes were sealed shut as tears flowed freely, as she hugged Mitta for all she was worth, the filly not even heeding the stench or the half-rotted state of her body.

"Ah dun care!" she shouted. "Mitta, yer NOT a BAD PONY! Y' don't DESERVE THIS! Ah... ah wanna help you! I wanna SAVE YOU, Mitta!"
