Lava Lamp of Life Illusion

So I get this crazy idea one day. I love watching Lava Lamps in motion. I also happen to be facinated with the creation of artificial life.

I come up with this idea, Get a huge aquarium tank, and fill it with Lava Lamp fluids. Then, add a bunch of magnitized metal shavings, mix it in the wax. Then supply two lightbulbs, and two fan-coolers on the bottom, creating currents in the tank. What will happen to the stuff inside? That's what I'd like to know.
